I think I'm very close to getting wake to record working on my system.

I couldn't get nvram or acpi to work with my ibm netvista motherboard, so I took the suggestion from the bottom of this page (alternate method)

basically setting a permanent wake-up time in the bios and adjusting the hardware clock relative to this wake-up time and then reseting the correct time on reboot (probably not the ideal method but...)

As far as I can tell now, everything is working except that the bios clock is getting reset to the correct time just before shutdown.

How can I find out where this time correction is being called from?
I've already turned off the ntp server.

/etc/init.d/hwclock<tab>. (I'm not sure about the file ending, so use the <tab> file completion to find it).

I would recommend changing the scripts so that the system time is never set to the invalid value. Instead modify /etc/init.d/hwclock.sh to set the hwclock to the desired value without changing the system clock on shutdown. On startup, this script can be used to apply the timediff to the hwclock time and apply the correct time to the system time. Or better yet, just set the system time from ntp.
