Post subject: | Import CD keeps ejecting audio CD (KnoppMyth R5F1) |
I have build my own KRP Dragon 2.0, and I am trying it out. I want to import an audio CD. I open the tray, place the disk on the tray, then choose 'Import CD' from the menu. The tray closes, and I can hear the drive spinning up. It then shows the KM background for a second, and ejects the disk. I also tried going to Import CD first, then putting a CD in, but same deal -- the album information is never retrieved, and it just spits it out again. I somehow did manage to rip a CD once, but I had to try repeatedly -- hardly something I would force on a prospective customer! How do I get 'Import CD' to work consistently? |

Not sure now to fix it yet, but if you can provide some extra information we might be able to help. Can you exit the frontend, open an Xterm (press Alt X), and tell us the output of Code: mythfrontend -v media
when you do Import CD? |

Thanks very much for your reply. Not sure how I am supposed to Import CD while outside the frontend, so I did this: <Turn on Dragon> Go to CD/DVD > Import CD <import CD screen appears> Open tray, place CD on tray, close tray <drive spins up, ejects disk> Esc, Esc, Yes, Exit now Alt + X $ mythfrontend -v media <frontend starts again, but if I press Alt + tab it shows XTerm with an updating field:> 2007-07-19 11:16:50.772 /dev/cdrom Tray open <user pushes button to close tray with CD still on it> Disk OK... Current status MEDIASTAT_OPEN found an audio disk Media status changed... New status is: MEDIASTAT_USABLE old status was MEDIASTAT_OPEN Posting MediaEvent Found a handler New DB connection, total: 2 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost metadata.o: You don't seem to have any tracks. That's ok with me if it's ok with you. Disk OK... Disk OK... Disk OK... <etc...> Well, it's not OK with me, that's a legit audio CD. Why doesn't KnoppMyth see the tracks? |

Possibly this issue? http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/changeset/13651/branches/release-0-20-fixes |

Thanks for the reply. I don't understand the page you linked to; I don't see R5F1 mentioned anywhere... what is "release-0-20"? I'm just a humble OEM builder -- from what I read about KRP, I was under the impression KM was ready for deployment... now it looks more and more like it is still in very early stages of development. I have installed different Media Centre software on another PC, called 'Meedio', but I wasn't happy with it; Still, it can at least read CDs. I expected more from KnoppMyth, frankly. I'm willing to put the effort in, since - on paper - it promises features not available anywhere else. |

It says that when MythMusic knows there is a disk there, but hasn't been asked to read its tracks yet. You will need to do a few more things: * Alt Tab to the MythFrontend window, and select "Import CD" * Quickly Alt Tab back to the Xterm window to see the extra debug output related to trying to open the CD * Crtl S to stop the output scrolling past in the window (Ctrl Q enables it again) The "Disk OK" lines should stop when you do the "Import CD" function. There may not be anything printed out after that, but I am hoping that there is an error line |

New status is: MEDIASTAT_OPEN old status was MEDIASTAT_USEABLE That is freaking weird! What happens if you turn off "Monitor CD/DVD drives" (5th page of Setup->General). Does it still do the immediate eject thing? How about changing the Music Settings -> General Settings -> Automatically lookup/play CDs. Same behaviour? One last thing, can I get you to try MythTV's Eject button a few times, and check if it opens and closes the tray? (some drives have a problem under Linux that the driver cannot work out if they are open or closed) Quote: Phew, that was a lot of typing... mythfilldatabase never worked on this machine, might that have something to do with its inability to read audio CDs? No. All my work test machines are behind a firewall, but have no MythMusic CD problems.
