Post subject: | R5F1 - Help! can't change chanel with keyboard |
I just upgraded to R5F1 from R5C1 using the autoupgrade option and for the most part, things went well. As expected, my K-World ATSC100 card had some small issues, but I found the fixes in the forum. I have a problem when I try to change channels with the keyboard up and down arrows while watching TV. The picture freezes up. What is strange is that if I bring up the menu ('m') while watching TV, then select program guide, select a different channel and hit 'm' then the channel changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Are you using a usb keyboard? Mike |

No, I'm using a standard keyboard. In fact, the same thing happens when I use VNC from another computer. One thing to note though, the screen freezes up before the on-screen channel information comes up. I thought it may be the nVidia driver (based on some of the posts I've read), so I upgraded to the latest driver, still no luck. |

There were a few warnings prior to R5F1s release about possible upgrade problems from older versions. I'd be inclined to do another backup, then re-install manually onto the first partition, but you may choose not to do this (it's a bit involved). Mike |

Auto upgrade hmmm... I'd rather not do another backup, since I the backup that's there is from R5C1, my last working system. Maybe, worst case go through the R5E1 upgrade first and see what happens. Since watching TV works, and the menu button works, as do pause, volume and what not, I can change channels somewhat if I go to the program guide. I'm thinking that it's something with the on screen display or tuning. |

Take a look at the R5F1 hints thread for things you may have missed in the upgrade. Also look into upgrading your ivtv drivers to 0.10.3 as mentioned there. My first suspicion is that you didn't clean up the stale card definitions as the hints tell you to. BTW - You seem to have some version confusion. There were no public releases of R5C1 (do you mean R5C7?) or R5E1 (do you mean R5D1 or R5F1?) Details like this matter because each version has it's own unique issues.. Thanks tjc, I actually did look at the tips and hints, and deleted my card definitions and re-entered them, ran a scan etc...I didn't however do the ivtv upgrade (it seem to me that this was directed toward Haupauge cards, and I have a KWorld). I've since done the upgrade, and now up or down doesn't freeze live TV, but it also doesn't change the channel ![]() You are right abou the versions, my last working version was R5C7, what I might consider is to upgrade to R5D1, then try D5F1. or should I just try riding the whole upgrade train. (doing a backup each time). |

Sorry, got my wires crossed there. |
