Post subject:  Not all channels showing up in EPG (datadirect service)

I am running into a problem listing all the channels in the program guide. I goto the datadirect website and log in and modify my listing to select all channels then in mythtv-setup I select "FETCH CHANNELS FROM LISTINGS" and then rerun mythfilldatabase. When I run the frontend alot of the channels are missing but I am running 110 and 119 and I am getting channels from both birds plus my cable listings. Is there something that I have to change in the database to enable these channels to stay visible. Also when I go back to the website the channels that aren't showing up are unselected again. I have tried to repeat this process a few times now with no sucess.

I fixed one problem but now have another. I now have all the channels show up in the guide but, they all come up as unknown. I know there is a file that gets created that tells the service what channels to add and what not to add. What is it and how do I tell it to add data to my new channels?

Do you mean the channels themselves or the programmes?

I think you mean mythfilldatabase. This has to be run as the mythtv user.

There are often gaps in the channel line ups published by zap2it. Some of this comes back to the cable providers not giving them the right info.

Actually I mean the programs I get the station ID. No not mythfilldatabase I have been running that. I think it has something(the file) ah crap I drew a blank. I no that I had edited in windows when I would run some config option in windows it would create a file that told the grabber what channels it had stuff like that. I followed an old post by you (Bruce) that said to go into the channel editor and make sure that they were all set to visible, which worked but now the grabber shows only unknown for the channel data. It got the icons too but just no program info. I think the file I am looking for is .dtd or something similar. Man everytime I get close to being able to just use my myth boxes something gets in the way and sends me back to board. Well enough of my whinning and back to work. Thanks for the reply.

Guys,

I have this exact problem. I see most channels but not all. And, more importantly even tho it is just aesthetics, each channel is listed as "unknown" instead of "abc", "cbs", "hbo", etc.

In the past I've simply scanned and rescanned channels until it finally finds them. But I have no idea why it does this or what step I'm doing wrong. Any help is sorely appreciated.

One more annoying item... when I scan for channels my entire box locks up occasionally (1 out of every 3 attempts roughly) and requires a hard reset. The log files really don't show any obvious issues on this problem.
