Post subject:  no audio from SBE recordings

I only view recordings on my MBE. Recordings made from the SBE have no audio on the MBE. Any idea why?

Thanks in advance.

I would guess that your SBE is not recording sound or is recording at a very low level.
Can you play SBE videos on your SBE?

Thanks for the reply.

I don't have a tv connected to the SBE. I also don't use the PVR-350's hardware decoder on either MBE or SBE. I may get this going soon but not for now. (Configuring X is a mystery to me.)

Before upgrading to R5F1, I had this same setup working perfectly fine with R5D1. I have no clue what could've changed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could the problem be that the SBE recordings are using the graphics card on the SBE to display to the TV connected to the MBE? (i.e. X over the network)

How do I force the system to use the local video adapter?

Thanks!

The easiest way is to copy one of your files off of the SBE, either to another PC or to the /myth/video directory of your MBE and play it back, then you should be able to determine whether there sound in the file or not.

If not I would check to ensure that your sound cable(s) going into the capture card from the sound source are OK and correctly making contact. Also the sound settings for the Recording Profiles on the SBE.

You can demux the mpeg stream using a demuxer programme like ProjectX, this will usually generate a .m2v file and 1 or more .mp2 files for the soundtrack streams, you can use vlc to play the .mp2 files back to check or use an app like Audacity to edit the sound files to show the sound waveforms.
