Post subject: | setting up Hauppague MCE Remote; need final step. |
R5F1 Hello, I am finally asking my question; I have searched but have not come up with anything relevant but instead have found other topics that I need to read in the future. I am setting up my "dog bone" mce remote bundled with my pvr-150. So far I have followed http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MCE_Remote#Newer_remote I really thought I was golden as I have downloaded the most recent cvs (0.8.2pre3) and the install seemed fine: ./setup.sh Menu Option # (1) - Driver Configuration (enter) Menu Option # (8) - USB Devices (enter) Menu Option # (o) - Windows Media Center Remotes (new version, Philips et al.) (enter) Menu Option # (3) - Save your configuration and run configure (enter) make make install I then did the: # modprobe lirc_mceusb2 # lircd # irw <<irw picked up the key presses but going back to a running mythtv did not pick up the remote. So, next: # /etc/init.d/lirc start So then I figured perhaps a reboot might help things but now irw doesn't pick up on any remote keypresses. If you have read this far then you know my linux skills are poor but given the talent around here I am hoping for a little more guidance. Should I start over from the beginning? What am I missing? |

I don't think you should have to recompile LIRC for this... Simple choose an MCE remote during installation. It will state that it should have detected the remote, which is fine. If you did recompile LIRC, I'd suggest a backup and auto upgrade. When asked about the remote, state you have a MCE remote (MCENEW, AMCENEW if the first old doesn't work). After you are done configuring everything exit the frontend, then as root: Code: cp /usr/local/share/knoppmyth/remotes/Hauppauge_PVR-150_with_transmitter_and_receiver-dog_bone/lircd.conf /etc/lircd/ cp /usr/local/share/knoppmyth/remotes/Hauppauge_PVR-150_with_transmitter_and_receiver-dog_bone/lircrc /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc chown mythtv.myth /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircr /etc/init.d/lirc restart Start the frontend (<alt><m>). Does you remote work? If so, please post the output of Code: cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

I did reinstall. This time I actually did read the screens and I didn't see any message about the usb being recognized. cat /proc/bus/usb/devices reveals Manufacturer: SMK Product: eHome Infrared Tranceiver I reran lirc-reconfig.sh and got a box in the middle of the screen that said: Warning Thanks Xsecrets any other thoughts? |

Hi, Run lirc-reconfig.sh.old to get the menu selection. I use the 150 dogbone choice. If I recall correctly, I selected the A415 first, then reran the and chose the dogbone. You have to reboot for the house keep to kick in with the SMK plugged in. It does work, with or without a tuner card. Mike |
