Post subject:  what is ASXX code? (AusDragonTweaker.sh)

I didn't know which subforum to post this in, but here it is anyway:

I have build a system that adheres to the AusDragon2 specs EXCEPT for the capture card, which is dual analog, instead of digital.

Now I'm looking at the relevant script, AusDragonTweaker.sh, to adapt it to my system.
There is this line:

Code:
printf "Please enter the full code (e.g. ASXX0123) for your area: "
read ASXX;

What on Earth is an ASXX code?

Why doesn't it ask for my postcode?

Hi Marco,

The Dragon scripts are for the airstar2 card. They will be fine with similar *digital* cards, but may fail badly if you're using analogue cards. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want digital cards.

An ASXX code is for mythweather. I disabled this soon after R5F1 because it doesn't work completely. I didn't want to spend another thousand hours converting it to postcodes to save users reading a line of instructions (then maybe complaining because then they're supposed to know their postcode), so I instead took the time to get all the ASXX numbers and list them for every state and territory. The script will also list each of these for you.

If you'd like to write a postcode conversion I'd be happy to incorporate it into my scripts.

Cheers

Mike
