is it possible to use another format for recording tv shows instead of NUV?
Cause i would like to burn the tv shows on dvd and watch witch a dvd player or on pc too.

yes, of course i can use nuvexport, but it is extra work which have to be done and it taks a lot of time.

If your tuner card is a hardware MPEG card(PVR 2/350 or M179), the video is recorded as MPEG-2 with a .nuv extension. If you have a software based tuner card then your choice is RTJPEG or MPEG-4.

just to clarify what cesman said the hardware cards produce a standard mpeg2 file that can be played by any media player or windows or burned to dvd and played by a dvd player. The software cards have a choice of RTJPEG or MPEG4 however these are both special .nuv files and will not play with an extention rename on anything that is not patched to play .nuv files. the mpeg4 is not divx or xvid it's different.

Having said that there are a couple of programs to help archive shows on dvd. Not sure if either of them support software cards. I know one doesn't.

Have a look at the wiki look at the howto and the links page.
