OK, noobie here. I have R5F1 up and running. Now I want to finetune the backend. When I exit MythTV to the 'desktop' the right click menu gives me a 'reconfigure' option, but it doesn't do anything.

Obviously I am missing something but I'm sure someone can point me in the right direction?

TIA

It would be nice to leave a trail of breadcrumbs for the next poor schmuck to come along. I'm going to guess that you found the widely publicized http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=GettingBackIntoMytTVsetup page on the wiki.

No, I dislike wikis. Generally I find them frustrating to wade through. When problem solving I like to get to the 'meat' of the subject, if you know what I mean. Wikis just don't seem do that for me, except one or two stand out exceptions.

But I'm sorry for not posting the solution:

* Exit MythTV to the KM "desktop"
* Right Click the Desktop
* Choose to open a shell (XShell > XTerm)

Type mythtv-setup into the shell and press enter. You'll get a warning that what you are about to do can have dire consequences. I ignore warnings like this and click Continue ;)
