Post subject:  NFL --> sync with radio?

ok... preseason is the best time to figure this out. i need to watch my steelers, but i much prefer listening to the local radio broadcast (although i miss myron cope) than the clowns that the networks have announcing the games. however, because of the buffering, the radio is about 3-6 seconds ahead of the tv broadcast.

so, is there any way in myth or perhaps another media player/recorder to capture the video via my atsc card and the audio via the line-in of my sound card? and then, when i watch via the internal myth player or vlc (if i need to) i can shift the audio to sync with the video.

any bright ideas?

There may be a mplayer command or something like that that can delay the audio as you suspect. Somehow I don't suspect that this can be done automatically via Myth itself.

yeah... i'm not so worried about time shifting the audio/video. that should be easy - myth player, vlc, xine and mplayer do it.

the trick is recording an alternative audio track on a digital TV capture.

any ideas?

my only guess would be to change the audio input on the card you are using to record the show from whatever mixer it's currently on to your radio card's mixer. you'd just have to do this before the game and make sure to reset it after. This should align the two (although the radio may still be slightly ahead of the video?) good luck!

and that setting is somewhere in mythtv-setup

Hi,

I do a similar thing with the state of origin in Queensland Australia. Except the radio i similcast with also have an internet stream, so the capturing is a little easier. I then use two independent mplayer instanses to cater for the digital tv and the streamed audio.

If you can feed the audio into you mythbox, mplayer does have several methods to incorporate external audio (via some raw stream) into the recording. Worst case is use one for digital tv, and another mplayer instances for the audio.

Irishcream: that's what i hoped, but it doesn't seem mythtv will allow you to pick an alternative sound input for a dvb card. if it was an analog tuner, this would be no problem.

bigB: i'm trying to get this to work in mplayer, but looks like i'm going to run into the same problem with only being able to grab the audio from the dvb card. running 2 instances of mplayer might work though. i'll test that out.

thanks...
