Trying MythArchive with create DVD option. It progresses to what I believe to be quite far, but before completing it runs into this error:
    Adding sync offset of 0ms
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/share/mythtv/mytharchive/scripts/mythburn.py", line 3642, in ?
    processJob(job)
File "/usr/share/mythtv/mytharchive/scripts/mythburn.py", line 3471, in processJob
    calcSyncOffset(filecount))
File "/usr/share/mythtv/mytharchive/scripts/mythburn.py", line 1178, in multiplexMPEGStream
    os.mkfifo(destination)
OSError: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted
    ------------------------------------------------------------

I thought for a moment that maybe user mythtv is not authorized to /dev/dvdrw, but that does not seem to be the culprit. I believe this error is before that, merging the different streams into the resulting file using "multiplexMPEGStream".

Googling on "os.mkfifo" has given nothing.

Ideas on how to get past this, anyone?

Cheers,
/Chris

It's failing to create a FIFO, try unchecking the 'Use FIFOs' setting on the second page of MythArchive settings. Are you trying to burn from the front/backend or a standalone frontend? Are you running the frontend as mythtv or some other user?

Thanks again Slowtolearn!
Unchecking the FIFO setting did the trick! :D

Cheers,
/Chris

P.S. I run this on a combined FE/BE running the FE as user "mythtv". :)

Now, a year later I've come across a mysterious "operation not permitted" error in MythArchive on my new hardware. I've been searching the wiki, the forums and then, eventually, I came across this thread.

I guess I'm the one who's really "slowtolearn".

If it weren't for my very short (but good) memory, this would be really scary.

Cheers,
/Chris
