Hello ive been usinf mythtv for a long time but for a short while i went to vista, it wasnt too great and my older tuner didnt work at all. But now that im back to myth i was hit with a aful suprize. Theirs no datadirect guides that i can use for free. Too bad im not in a situation when i have the ability to pay for it, id love to, and feel the price is reasonable. but i hear a free alternative is over the air EIT guides. ive tried to enalbe it as a source on my box and still no matter where i look online i can see why im not getting guide info. if their are any common tips or guides im missing please assist. thanks so much

so im asking is their a way to get EIT to get any program info?

Alt-S into backend setup
If a warning box shows up, choose continue it won't make any difference for this.

Select Menu >>Channel Editor >>
select your channel you want guide for
check "Use on Air Guide" box
Change your stations as needed

Usually the install program will already have the ones checked that provide any information. Data will only be harvested when the backend is idle.
You can also do this same setup threw MythWeb if you have it setup.

In my area only 50% of the digital stations have a on air guide and the ones that do only provide about 8 hours of guide information in advance.

Hi,

Didn't say if you were looking for digital or analog programming. EIT is only good for digital.

analog. i was thinking i could get it because i know people in my area who have analog cable that get a guide on their tv just by default

From my limited knowledge of it all EIT is only broadcast over DVB.

EIT isn't freely available in NA.
