First off, I haven't started yet but have ordered bought most of my hardware and I am trying to make a decision on how to load everything on the hardware. Any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated. Here's what I have and my plan.

Hardware

Dell 400SC Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, 512MB RAM, 80 gig IDE (OS Drive), 2 X 500GB SATA for media, ATI Radeon 9250 256MB Video Card, Avermedia A180 HDTV Card, Sound Blaster Live 5.1 PCI card

Planned Software:
KnoppMyth
ATI Linux Driver

Thinking of adding another Tuner, was looking for a dual NTSC/ATSC (Clear QAM) with hardware encoding and found Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1600, will it work with KnoppMyth? Or is there a better card? Also, I picked up an nVidia GeForce 4 128mb AGP video card as a backup in case I have problems getting the ATI card to work. Also I am planning to hook this up to my Mitsubishi WD-62327 via DVI. And coax connect the 5.1 surround sound to my Marantz surround sound system.

Sounds like a good plan. :) Unfortunately, you'll have to manually install the latest ATi drivers. Thanks for choosing KnoppMyth.

Or getting an nvidia based card might be easier since they mostly work right out of the box.

Yes, get an nVidia card - fanless. And get a full GB of RAM. Make sure you've got room for more tuners... Once you start, they're like Doritos. I've got 3, and that's the "sweet spot" for me. Having multiple tuners lets you pad the end of shows that run long (or start late due to sports) without causing conflicts.

Googling for "hauppauge HVR 1600 mythtv" gives:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_HVR-1600

so it doesn't look good in the short-term.
