By self chosen do you mean manual recording?

Hrm, I would probably edit the DB manually.

yes, a manual recording.
i did never record anything other than manual, so i did not know 'naming' to be exclusive for the 'manual' option.

- Go into the watch recordings list and scroll down until the recording you want to rename is highlighted.

- Hit the right arrow key (this may require having "arrow acceleration" enabled for your remote, otherwise it's "I")

- Scroll through the menu that comes up to "Recording Options" and select that. (OK, or Enter)

- Select "Change Recording Name" from the sub menu that comes up.

- This will bring up a dialog that allows you to change the title and subtitle of the recording.

I take the DB editing route for some stuff myself and usually use webmin for that. That option makes more sense when the title isn't displayed as part of the program and I need to grab it from the web somewhere or it's just obnoxiously long.

Thanks for this tip! I just ran into a problem and needed to know how to do this. The Tudors have no subtitle in Schedules Direct so each week was recording over the previous week. And the answer was right there already in the system.

Sparks:

It shouldn't "record over it" just because there is no sub-title. FYI it keeps
track of the different shows by channel number and recording start time,
not by title.

I have many titles that have no sub-title, most of which are of the
"unknown episode" type if you look at the details...

If you are having a problem with this, it may be that you have auto-expire
turned on and coincidentally it records a new one about the time the old one
expires.

If the problem remains unexplained, it is probably a different configuration
issue or perhaps a bug that needs to be tracked?

Cliff
