| Post subject: | HowTo get MythVideo to play surround 5.1 in 5.5 **solved** |
Not sure why MythVideo (mplayer) is playing 5.1 files in only 2 channels. I know the files I'm playing have AC3 audio. I'm using digital out. All of my HDTV live and recorded is playing in 5.1 correctly. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |

Have you ticked the SPDIF and AC3 pass through boxes in the setup section? |

Solved my own problem. Here's how to get mplayer (Mythideo) to pass through ac3 and dts: add the lines below to /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf Code: ac=hwac3,hwdts, ao=alsa:device=plughw=0.1 of course device 0.1 is my digital out, so this might be different for yours. To find out use: Code: cat /proc/asound/pcm or Code: aplay -l
