I've have not been able to get MythGame to find any of my MAME ROMS. Running 'xmame -sc' shows that the rom path is set to '/usr/local/share/xmame/roms' and this is where my rom files are. Running 'xmame xmen' loads x-men just fine. In Myth I've set my MAME ROM path to be '/usr/local/share/xmame/roms'. All of my roms have lowercase only names, and have have owner and group set to 'mythtv' (my myth username). What am I doing wrong?

I have searched like crazy, put a catver.ini file in place. Seen references to xmame.SDL, seend mention of the history file built from the command line causing it, and I just cannot figue out what I need to do.

I have some 3600+ MAME Roms in /myth/games/xmame/roms and some 200 SNES roms in /myth/games/snes/roms. It finds the snes ones but it never processes and of the MAME ones.

I am also having trouble getting DIVX AVI files to play n the video application. I am able to load them in and get neat front covers for them but nothing happens when I try to play them.

Similiar results happen when I try to play a DVD.

I sure hope Release 5 will be out soon....

Thanks for the great work. Clean interface and neat features. If there's anything I can do, just let me know.

If I remember correctly the key is to remove history in the Setup->Game Settings. As for the video files, I cannot state what the problem maybe, perhaps updating ffmpeg which is capable of decoding various formats. After this I'd suggest a recompile of MPlayer. Please note that due to legal issues I've hobbled ffmpeg and mplayer that are including w/ KnoppMyth and will continue to do so in future releases. I do however include the source and you can always get the latest online...

mplayer is all setup to play divx, you just need to change the command line for .avi files in setup > video > file associations:
/usr/local/bin/mplayer -fs -zoom -vc odivx %s

the key is the -vc odivx, which tells mplayer to use the divx codec

I am having the same problem of mame not finding roms.

I searched the archives and nothing helped.

Also, if I try to run xmame from the cli, I get an error "Could not open display".

Any new thoughts?

The "risky" codecs in ffmpeg and "dvdkit" in MPlayer.
