Post subject: | PS3 and Mencoder |
I'm wondering if anyone could help me out on encoding videos to play-back on the PS3 from my TV recordings. I used to use the following: Code: mencoder /myth/tv/filename.mpg -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame -xvidencopts bitrate=1500 -o /myth/video/filename.avi Somewhere along the way (R5.5 maybe?) this no longer seems to work. I went a while between doing this... but all my older stuff still plays, but now, with the same command, what I encode no longer plays on the PS3. I thought, from my reading, that it might have something to do with 'level' sub-command, so I also tried the following: Code: mencoder /myth/tv/filename.mpg -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame level=41 -xvidencopts bitrate=1500 -o /myth/video/filename.avi
This generates slightly different behavior and error message, but still doesn't work. I guess if I can't get xvid to work, I'm also open to suggestions for h.264 solutions... though in my experience, they take much longer to encode. If that is what I have to do though... then so be it. Any tips or encoder lines people have working with the PS3? BTW, I'm not starting from a HD source file here... if that makes any difference. Also, I can play the files no matter which way I encode them on the myth box or my Mac with QT or VLC... so it is something specific the PS3 doesn't like. Thanks much! -Steve |
