I was wondering if anybody has set up 2 identical Dish receivers controlled by an ActiSys IR blaster. I have seen posts and instructions for setting up this device, but how would I go about setting up two receivers. Would I need to blasters, I don't want one tuner changing the channel on the both recievers.

Any ideas, thoughts etc........ Is it possible to have two IR blasters? Com1 and Com2?

Thanks

I'm not sure if dish has a serial port, but that is what I use to control my directv box. Otherwise, you could use two ir transmitters and put them directly against the ir receiver on your dish boxes. I'd tape them there using dark tape (electrical, duct, etc) to minimize the ir leakage. I understand that it might not look pretty, but it would definitely work.

as noted above, it certainly is possible.

HW: the range of the transmitter is a function of the current through the IR LED. put each IR LED directly in front of each receiver, and use a fairly high value current limiting resistor, say 10K. this should prevent any backscatter that might trigger the other receiver. what i do is velcro the transmitter cable to the bottom of the set-top box, and have it make a U-turn right underneath the IR receiver on the front panel of the set-top box. this way the IR LED is facing it's mate by just a inch, with very little cable showing. it looks clean.

SW: yes, you can configure multiple LIRC setups for simultaneous usage on COM1 and COM2. read my writeup below and if you can't figure out what needs to be changed for the second instance (or actually third if you are already using LIRC for your PVR-x50 etc), let me know.
