My problem is that I need to go in to alsamixer everytime I reboot the machine. Granted that isn't very often but still I want to fix it. I have searched both the mythtv email archives as well as this forum and I understand that I need to store my settings and then modify modules.conf to reload them on startup. So now for my two questions.

1) Is "alsactl -f /etc/asound.state" what I should use to store the settings? Where is the alsactl command stored? Everytime I try to run it I get a command not found error. Do I need to install it separately?

2) What are the modules.conf changes needed to get the alsamixer settings to reload at startup? Currently I'm using the standard modules.conf that KnoppMyth created.

use the aumix command it brings up a small gui that has a save feature built in for when you are done
