You missed the second step. The password is q2dUSRDq

Are we supposed to mkdir programs/mythfrontend in our /path/to/source/ directory before doing the copy:
Quote:
$cp /usr/share/mythtv/mysql.txt programs/mythfrontend/

The command below seems to try to move the file into itself:
Quote:
$mv /path/to/sourcer/tv<tab> .

Is it supposed to be:
$mv /path/to/source/tv<tab> mythtv-0.13/
$cd mythtv<tab>
$patch -p0 < tv<tab>

I screwed mine up along the line somewhere. I know you're hard at work on R5, but is there anyway we can get you to release a patch for R4 that will upgrade it to 0.13 as per your instructions :) As long as we put the source into the directory your script uses it should be okay, right?

Patiences...From the next release on, we'll hopfully have only debs so updating will be easy.

You can always make distclean to remove the old... Export QTDIR and PATH
cd /path/to/source
make distclean
Then compile per the instructions.

I got myth0.13 installed :)

I was screwing up before on 2 parts and getting compilation errors because:
1. In settings.pro I only changed /usr/local to /usr for PREFIX. It finally all worked when I also changed it for INCLUDEPATH.
2. After I typed in make I would immediately <ctrl> <tab> <f2> to the other terminal and do a make install before the make on the first terminal finished. Make sure you wait for the make in the first terminal to finish before doing the make install.

These were my newbie mistakes. Hope this helps someone.

change pentiumpro to i586 if you have an i586 class CPU, if not you can let it be. If you want native LIRC, XvMC, etc. this is the place to uncomment...
write and quit

Sorry if this is a stupid question: for those of us w/ AMD CPUs, I assume we should change 'pentiumpro' to 'i686' in these files before doing the make command right?

You don't have to change it. Just keep it as is...

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll leave it be. Just curious, are the only two settings pentiumpro and i586? Why not i686?

Different architectures. Esentially the pentiumpro is a i686. While a K6-2, C3 are i586 class processors. One cannot generate code for i686 class processors and have it work on i586 class processors. If you really want to know more:http://www.gnu.org/software/gcc/ :)

Thanks for the info man! I do have a question based on this thread:

I did the 2nd step, but programs/mythfrontend doesn't exsist. For that matter, programs does not exsist. Should I make it? Right now I have skipped that step and am currently doing the make for mythtv (taking some time on my old 800 MHz athlon :)

You're not following the directions if you are getting this error. Skipping it will just ensure you cannot access the DB once compilation is complete. Check your email.
