I've just installed knoppmyth r5d5 and dsmyth, gotten mythweb to work fine. I click on one of my recorded programs and it streams fine into media player classic but I can't skip forward or backward, let alone skip commercials. How can I do this?

I'm using a similiar setup but I configured dsmyth to use mplayer and it works fine. I can skip +/- 10 seconds, 60 seconds or 10 minutes, depending on the key I hit.

The specific posting that explains how to configure the dsmyth filter is posted by lusid -- just do a find on his name and you'll get there once you're in the thread.

pre-built versions of mplayer for windows can be found from many sites -- just google for "mplayer for windows" and pick one.

The only problem I ran into is that "out of the box" the mplayer playback looks terrible. To get it to look good I used the following options in the config file:


I used to use VLC instead of mplayer, but under r5d1 the mpeg file created by the ivtv drivers appears to have some glitches in it that VLC doesn't deal with well. On the other hand, mplayer has no problems with this.

The various mplayer keys are documented in mplayer man pages that are also available online wiht a google, but the ones you probably are most interested in are:

f = toggle full screen mode

RIGHT = Skip +10 seconds
LEFT = Skip -10 seconds

UP = Skip +60 seconds
DOWN = skip -60 seconds

PGUP = Skip +10 minutes
PGDWN = Skip -10 minutes

ESC = quit playback
