Post subject:  Zalman CNPS7000B-ALCU Installation on 775 motherboard

This is a hardware question, but since it does not pertain specifically to MythTV or Knoppmyth, I'm putting it in Off-Topic.

Santa brought me a Zalman CNPS7000B-ALCU with a ZM-CS1 adapter clip for socket 775 processors. However, I cannot for the life of me get my Abit AS8 to boot with that sucker installed. I get error code 9.0. which from my googling means there's a CPU problem. The AS8 with a stock Intel heatsink/fan boots just fine. I've followed Zalman's directions to a T -- I even watched the video on their website. However, I cannot get this puppy to co-operate with my board. Has anyone else had issues with this heatsink/fan on a 775 motherboard?

I don't know about the AS8, but the Dragon 2.0 spec motherboard uses the same CPU fan as an option, and it works fine. Perhaps it's freaking out because the fan speed is too low? Try revving it up and see if that works. If not, consider a BIOS update.
