Does anyone else have to log in twice to these forums? It's not a real problem, except the forum never has any "new posts since last visit" as a result.

Thanks!

I've been running into that for the past 12 hours or so..... just noticed it yesterday evening. It's not the end of the world, but is a tad annoying as the "posts since last visit" doesn't work.

I didn't actually run into it just now..... but all through yesterday evening I did. Maybe it's fixed?

Change your web address without the "www" in front and the double logon goes away.

It seems to be a glitch in the auto redirection. If you login, then get another login screen, you can go up to the URL bar at the top of your browser and adjust the hostname to match the one from you initial login screen and it everything works.

Yes, I've seen the same with other forums, though typically it's the other way around (login without www and get redirected to www, login again but lose your unread marks). Has to do with cookies...

I spent several hours trying to figure out what the difference in firefox cookies/settings was, only to find that the above was essentially the difference.

The most annoying part was finding the environment difference was that I was depending upon URL completion on both boxes, but one defaulted to the "www" and one did not, based on my past typing behavior. Argh.

Thought I'd have a quick look to see if anyone else was having this problem.

FWIW, I run a fairly large phpBB forum elsewhere on the internet and I have a server side fix for this if anyone wants a hand ?

The problem my be related to the forums cookie path.

See the examples in the Explanation/Manual Fix section:

Cecil, don't know if there's a fix for this, but in the meantime perhaps you can change the link to the forums on your homepage from http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/ to http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/?

Every now and then I forget and lose all the unread threads :(

ditto, When I'm home I login from a bookmark, so I don't run into this. But if I'm somewhere else and just hit the main mysettopbox.tv page and follow the forums link from there I'll sometimes forget to strip out the www before I login and I'll also nuke my "new posts"

Not the end of the world, but it would be better if it never happened.

I have been logging in via 'log in to check messages' page to avoid the issue
