Too bad there's a limit of "only 9999 per customer." ![]() Any ideas if this drive is quiet or not? |

Heads-up: The Seagate drives tend to be noisey and do not have an acoustic management capability. I found this out the hard way after I installed my 500 GB Seagate SATA drive. After noticing the noise, and having "trouble" activating the acoustic management mode, I found an online article that measured noise levels of various drives, and explained the situation with seagate. Other then the "higher than average" noise level the Seagate makes an excellant drive. My drive is the SATA version -- I can't say with certainty that the problem will be as significant with the PATA verson. |

Yeah, Seagate seems to have lost the clue somewhere along the way. When I bought the ST3200822A for my old box and the two ST3250823A for the new box they were among the quietest and coolest running available. But those are all Barracuda 7200.7 series drives. The current 7200.10 series are a whole different story. The current generation of Western Digital drives now seems to be out in front on the noise count, although they still run a bit warm. |
