Post subject:  Movie Trailers in MythVideo

Just stumbled upon this.

http://mythtvnews.com/2007/06/22/apple- ... or-mythtv/

In short this script will download Movie trailers with poster art, director info, and populate the data in MythVideo.

And trailers can be excluded from download via a text file

I'm thinking daily cron script to download trailers to \myth\video\trailers

Couple this with the upcoming MythMovie (Movie Times) and this should increase the WAF factor.

Apparently there is a script from the same person to download netcasts, gametrailers and gamevideos.

These links are from this MythTVTalk forum thread.

wow.. This is pretty sweet...

Just have to be a bit careful I don't suck up too much disk space. Auto-expire would be a nice addition.

The trailers are being imported into the MythVideo table so recording autoexpire wouldn't work.

Could either change the MySQL commands around to import the trailers into the recording table and they should autoexpire.
or
Create a script that checks diskspace, and deletes the oldest if space is too low.

Well, I knew the built-in wouldn't work.. But an addition to the script to remove trailers after 30 days, or after the movie release date or something would be nice.

There is also an (unofficial) plug-in that plays the trailers from the net so doesn't take up disk space. Downside is the pause to cache the file. Anyone tried that?

I tried but 'apt-get install php5-cli' wanted to do way too much to my box and I can't risk breaking it right now :-)
