I see the posts here from time to time about hard drive deals. I found the "hot deals" forum at fatwallet.com is a good source for this information, people will post deals for other hardware too.

A site that requires a login (aka: tracking) account is NOT in my best shopping interest. I'd rather hit pricewatch.com if I want a cheap deal on some hardware.

http://techdeals.net - Random updates based on new posts from us out here.

in australia.. i use shopbot to check prices... its saved me a bundle as my local guy is a pain. but the search on the shopbot site never works properly for me. i just type the product number of the product along with the word shopbot into google.

You don't have to shop through fatwallet's pass-through. Just read or search the forum and then go directly to the merchants website.

Actually the very best deals are the in-store only clearance items that users post about.

http://frys.com/ has at least one good sale on a hard drive every week. Sometimes they have the same deal (or close) online as in their store.

Right now they are featuring a 500GB Seagate for $109.99 !

I buy most of my hard drives through ncix, great prices, and if you subscribe to their mailing list, there flyer comes out each thursday with some amazing deals. They ship quick, and I've never had a problem with them.

I'm not a NCIX flyer subscriber, but I have ordered from them, and can vouch to the quick shipping.

In fact, one of my PVR 150s was ordered from them and was in my hands in under 45 hours from time of ordering. Not bad considering I'm 3 provinces East of where they shipped from.

I think i'm going to go sign up for their flyer right now in fact....

Here's a good deal, at Office Depot. $320gb Maxtor PATA for $99.99 - $50 MIR = $49.99. I had a Staples $25 off card, and they take competitors coupons, so the price will end up being $25 after I get the rebate.

Nice, I'm in MB too. I kind of wish we had an NCIX store here. We got CBit and Computer Avenue which have great prices...but NCIX usually beats them even after shipping!

Though, if I want something in my hands NOW, I'll pay a couple extra bucks. A 750gb drive was just under $300 after taxes from CBit.

Though, with the us dollar tanking, I might start buying more from the states for the next while.
