Recently moved from R4V5 to R5F27. Performed a clean install of R5F27.

Old recordings play fine (R4V5). In Windows Media Player R5F27 recordings start, I get a second of audio and nothing.

Something changed between version R4V5 and R5F27.

Verified files play in VLC media player with some audio pausing and files play in OSX using Quicktime, so I know the files are intact. The bitrates are the same between the R4V5 and R5F27 recordings.

I've verified this media player issue with two other winxp machines.
Any ideas?

Randy

Might be variation of the issue discussed here: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 0913#80913

I tried and I also cannot play recordings from R5F27 on windows media player. I had not noticed it before as I rarely use that player. I've found that mplayer works well -- there are many versions pre-build for windows on the web and they have the very useful skip-forward-n-seconds; skip-backwards-n2-seconds feature...

Thanks Marc!

You were correct. The VBI settings were causing corrupted mpeg2 recordings. I didn't find the settings mentioned in the post. I had already tried setting VBI to none. Clearly something doesn't get toggled deeper within the configuration.

Because this was a new install I simply re-installed and de-activated VBI during the initial setup. Works like a champ.
