Any good deals this week? I'm keeping an eye out for storage.

Staples has a 400GB SATA Western Digital (internal) for $59 AR. Not bad.

I saw that drive deal too. Not bad at all.
I need to replace "Dads Junk" it is an old P2-450 IBM getting finicky at startups.

I am looking for a Good Mobo/CPU combo deal.
Something dual core - thinking around either the intel 6750 or even the Q6600

TIA

i'm looking at thisand then dumping the case and dropping it in my FE. 1TB = $199. Reviews are spotty, but I think it's a windows issue and not HDD.

You're almost certainly right that it's not the HDD that's at
fault. I'd put my money on the USB<->SATA interface chip as
the problem. In either case, one of the reviewers said he had
no more problems after pulling the drive out of the case and
mounting it internally.

I was amused by the one reviewer who complained that he was
only getting 200Mb/sec transfer rates instead of the
"advertised 480Mb". With USB's brain-dead architecture, he
should be grateful he's only seeing 60% overhead.

A mere 500Gb, but $0.20/Gb for an external drive is pretty good...

Beware, the 750GB Freeagent Pro got almost universally awful reviews at newegg.
