Not really a contest, because everybody wins when we seed the torrent! Collectively we are doing very well as we have 36 seeds and I'm serving 5 peers right now. In total, I've seeded 2272% so far since I began offering R5.5. That's 22.7 extra copies of KM for all the boys and girls! How are your torrents doing? |

I've been seeding for 1 day and three hours, though I've only passed on 3.6 copies. It's strange, for some I seed in the 50-70 kB/s range, for others it's less than 10, sometimes much less. And odd patters too. For example, as I've occasionally monitored it, the majority of connections seem to be from the .au TLD. Since I'm a Canuck, maybe it's a British Commonwealth thing, though I'd doubt BT has that kind of "prejudice" built into its logic. And of course, I'm also seeing the standard pattern of higher seeding rates to those countries (mostly European) that have higher average, per user, bandwidth. The difference I consistantly see between those charted in the http://www.itif.org/files/2008BBRankings.pdf is that it tends to be not quite as speedy to/from the Japan/South Korea side -- I suspect lower bandwidth on the pacific overseas cables. |

I have a fiber connection with Paxio, the best ISP in the US. I'm lucky to live in their service area. Some other folks have pretty fast service because I've seen traffic peaks up to 20M bps at times today. Come and get it! Free torrents for all! Leechers don't even bother me! Get yer R5.5 while it's HOT! P.S. 2420% or 16.5GB so far. Let's cover the world with KM! |

A measly 13.7% so far, with 1 peer currently. I don't have a lot of upstream bandwidth to spare, but I ALWAYS have the latest KM available. It seems the least I can do... |

Wish I had more bandwidth for sharing... Share ratio of 3.84 (2.62 GB) so far (and only one uploading now). But my R5F27 sharing did quite well. Share ratio of 149.78 (90.1 GB). I've even seen some recent activity on it. |

I've pushed about 35GB now, or about 50 copies. Keep 'em coming guys, I wanna feel the burn! I told my ISP I was gonna try to smoke the fiber this week and he laughed at me! He said I'd need to torrent porn to use up my bandwidth completely. The weekend has been good so far. I've pushed over 13GB in the last two days (according to my pfSense firewall). |

How are your torrents doing? I totally believe in the community effort! Gasp! I'm feeling rather stupid! .. and I can't find a simple how-to on setting this up! What download site do I set as a mother for my client? Thanks! |

Opinions vary, but I like the "torrentflux" distro. It's a PHP web frontend for Bittornado or Bittorrent (the original). It has a MySql dependency, but I just "apt-get"ted it on one of my servers and Bob's your uncle, it set itself up automagically. There is a one-liner floating around here that shows how to seed a BT from the command line with just bittorrent installed. If your only interest is to seed R5.5 it might be the best solution. Don't forget to poke a hole in your firewall for the ports. You only really need one or two ports, and the current thinking is to NOT use the "standard" bittorrent ports (because some ISPs screw with them). |

Update: I've pushed about 100GB in the three weeks. I would declare R5.5 a success by measure of downloads alone! The last two days have been pretty good, too. I've pushed about 5.5GB from Thursday night to Saturday morning. And weekends are always a little heavier, so today and tomorrow might see an even faster pace. I wonder what Human's numbers are. With bittorrent it's very hard to say what total traffic is pushed since we only see 1/n of the total at any given node. |
