Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can do this. I have tried using the MPG files in the pretty directory but I can't get anything to play them properly. I have tried Media Player Classic (64bit), VLC and GOM. I think I even tried Windows Media Player, without success.

Any thoughts?

I just play them in media player although I do have the k-lite codec pack installed it may have something that works included.

That's odd. VLC should be able to do it without other modifications. Have you trying mplayer for windows?

I use MythTV Player
http://www.sudu.dk/mythtvplayer/index.php

Works great and plays recordings as well as streams live TV from my backend to my desktop.

I use version 0.5.1pre10 (which has the Live TV support) and this thread shows you where to get that version:

Are these hidef or standard def recordings? What are you using for your video source? ie, Cable, satellite, analogue vs. digital, etc. What tuner card are you using? What symptoms are you seeing when you attempt playback. ie, Nothing happens; tearing; a/v sync problems, jerkiness? I'm asking all these questions because I've had different experiences based on the type of recording I am dealing with. In all cases, my recordings came from my myth box...

At this time my favorite windows-based media player is Media Player Classic Home Cinema. In the past I've used VLC & mplayer for windows. MPC Home Cinema is the best of the 3.

The problematic video I have at the moment is a HiDef digital recording from a DVB-T tuner. When I play it in MPC - Home Cinema (64bit) it just crashes. VLC plays but the audio doesn't work and I can't deinterlace. GOM plays but skips over things.

I have tried MythTVPlayer but it doesn't like my backend not that it is R6.

I might try and download the k-lite codec pack and see if that make a difference.

Thanks for that update Rod, this is a great program as it does everyhting I need on my Windows box without having to install MythTV, which I have tried and failed.

Hi,

MythtvPlayer is great but you should check latest XBMC (9.11RC1) who have built-in Mythtv support. (Maybe to much for your needs.)

There is also a good plugin for XBMC :
http://code.google.com/p/mythbox/

With Mythtv 0.22 the streaming from the Web access of Mythtv is working natively with Firefox.

Too much choice... ;-)

Wow Bob, yes there is a lot of choice, I didn't know you could get XBMC for Windows, I thought it was only for an XBox.

As to streaming directly in FF, I actually just came across this by accident a few minutes ago as I had to fix Mythweb and then I clicked on a video it started playing.

What to do, what to do?? What has the best WAF factor for her laptop???

Information overload, argh!!!!!
