Who cares? It costs $5000.

Lets see:
4 x 250 GB drives for $600.
7 tuner/encoder cards for $1000.
Motherboard, case, cpu for $400.

or you could change that to 4 400GB drives for $800 and you'd have over 1.5 TB storage.

Note that, even if comp-usa still had them in stock locally, the 400GB drives were really $230 (+tax) each, except the first, which has a one-per-household $30 rebate. So, it's more like $931.40, in VA. Until prices come down.

Luckily for my budget, the Vienna store was out and the Alexandria store only had two left.* Also, net prices seem to be hovering at a low of ~$240 + S/H. Still, not bad.

* Still....Plan to get one more soon, create a degraded raid-5, and add the fourth when prices come down.

hmmm... Not that drivers for Linux are stable now, but when they are, you could get 7 Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150MCEs for $560.

OR get 4 550 MCEs (each with two tuners) for $800 dollars if you're short on PCI slots.
