MythTV on Tivo???

Post subject:  MythTV on Tivo???
Can mythtv be installed on anything other than a pc? Can you use an existing set top dvr box (such as a tivo, scientific atlanta, etc.) and install a lean version of mythtv? I like what mythtv can do and the feel of it but it seems that the linux gods would shine on us all and find a way to break into these boxes and make this happen.

But you're asking two different questions. Your subject line is "MythTV on TiVo." See answer above.

Your second question is different: "Can mythtv be installed on anything other than a pc?" The answer there is "yes, kinda." There are versions out there that install MythTV as a frontend on Xboxes, MediaMVP players, and Macintoshes.

Sorry for the 2 questions but I didn't know how to label my subject. The main question that I had was what can mythtv run on? is there a website with a list of the platforms it can run on such as xbox?

If you want to run Linux MythTV on the xbox you'll need to mod it with Cromwell and then you'll need Xebian 1.1.0. Google it and you'll find a source. Then check out:

It's a little sparse lately since the forums went down, but still a good place to get the docs and install. There's also a very good howto someone put together a while back, but I don't have the link right now. Google that too. :)

If you want to cheat a bit you can mod your box with a slightly less legal BIOS than the Cromwell and then download XBMC from 'the usual places'. Then get XBMCMythTV from sourceforge:

That's the very short and missing lots of steps answer for how to get it on the xbox. There's also a mini-mac install and I'm sure others.
