I have StreamTV setup to http stream a show to :8001. I used WMV2 as the codec. I have a Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 5 and Media Player 10. I'm connected to my home network via wifi and can surf the web just fine on my PPC. When I enter the url (such as http://192.168.1.5:8001/) I get the error, "The parameter is incorrect". Using the address above, I can stream to my wifi laptop just fine. This must be a codec or syntax issue with the Windows Media Player 10. I'm just not sure what. The author of the StreamTV how-to on the Knoppmyth Wiki says he got it to work with a Pocket PC. Any ideas?

Thanks!

EtherNut.

I figured out the issue. Windoze Media Player 10 (for Pocket PC atleast) won't do the stream, it doesn't even have the capability to handle the StreamTV type of stream.

What *does* work is the VLC client for Pocket PC. I've downloaded the latest nightly build and while not very stable it does stream video for about 10 seconds before it locks up. ;-) I'll be trying back revs of the client today to see if I can find a stable version.

If anyone else knows of a media player for pocket PC that will stream video over the internet, let me know.

I found a different open source program that would work. It's called TCPMP.

It can be found here:

http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about

I'm streaming to my Audiovox 6700 Pocket PC as I type this. It's streams pretty good over the Sprint network too.

I know it's an old thread. But can you tell me how you succeeded to see the stream on your pocketpc.
When I launch TCPMP, I get a black screen but no errors.
How do you enter the URL in TCPMP ?

It's been a while since I've used it but, the best I remember, you click on FILE>OPEN (like you are going to open a file) and key in http://YOUR.IP.ADDRESS:8001 into the URL box.

You will need to open port 8001 on your home firewall to port 8001 on your mythtv and you're good to go.

Streaming does work perfectly with Windows Media PLayer 10 on my Wifi Laptop.

My firewall is well configured.

I guess the mistake I made was to select "mms" protocol instead of "http".

"http" never worked for me.

So settings should be like this: (tell me if I'm wrong).
Video Codec : (WMV2, I used DIV3)
Video Speed : 300 (I guess it's enough for pocket PC)
Audio speed : 96 (same as above)
Video Size : 50 % (my screen is 320*240)
FPS : 25
Stream Protocol : HTTP (not mms).

Is that correct?

Yes, I tried http instead of "mms" and guess what. It worked. ;-)
I'm happy even if it's a little bit slow and I have to overclock to get it run smoothly.
