I am trying to run the linux-wlan-ng setup and when prompted for the linux source directory, I entered /usr/src/linux but received an error that there was no such directory -- where is the source directory?

I'm guessing you either don't have your kerel source unpacked or are missing the symbolic link. A search for "unpack kernel source" here and on the wiki will provide more details and instructions.
