I don't think this has been asked before, I did a quick search and couldn't see anything. In any case I don't like putting a machine on the network with a known username/password combination and Knoppmyth requires the combination mythtv/mythtv to allow the mysql stuff to work. I can probably get better security if I change the login shell in /etc/passwd for the user mythtv to /bin/false, however before I do this does anyone know if there are any unexpected consequents of this?

Regards
D.

There is nothing stopping you from changing the password.
