Have an Atmel wireless USB Stick. I have installed the Linux drivers from the manufacturer. I run lsusb, it sees the hardware as an 802.11 wireless device. I have installed Wireless tools v.26.

When I run iwconfig, I get

io no wireless extentions

sit0 no wireless extentions.

What am I doing wrong?

Is the module loaded?

You'll have to excuse me I'm a Newbe. I ran

make modules modules_install

the other night and it ran for about 4 hours installing. I should have the module for just about everything on there.

If you installed the drivers from the manufacturer, then you should know the name. Running lsmod | grep name where name=the name of the module (in a 2.6 kernel this is usually something.ko) will tell you if something is loaded. Alternatively you can make sure it's loaded by doing a modprobe name where name is the name of the .ko file but without the .ko (e.g. if the module name is zd1211.ko then you would do modprobe zd1211).
