I installed R5B7 and everything seems to be ok except I cannot get my PCMCIA wifi card to be picked up. It is an Orinoco card, the prism chipset it pretty standard and I am sure it would usually work out of the box. Not really sure what is going on here or how to fix it. If I run

Code:
/etc/init.d/pcmcia restart

I get two nice happy beeps and one sad beep, and it reports:

Code:
Shutting down PCMCIA services: done.
Starting PCMCIA services: cardmgr[5842]: watching 2 sockets
done.

The light to the card does not come on as I would expect.

All I get from running netcardconfig is eth0 and sit0 I don't know what sit0 is but I am sure eth0 is my wired net card.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received, also any advice on getting the PVR 250+ remote and UK tv listings to download would be good, neither seem to work.

When I do a clean install, while it is booting from the CD cardmanager (or something like that) reports that "module prism2_c not found". I am guessing this is part of the problem, any ideas how to install this/set it up after I have KnoppMyth installed?

Might I suggest you take a look at the main site?

I am not sure if you mean "main site" Knoppix or MythTv? I will try both, Google only has 9 results when searching for "prism2_c" -- looks like another one of those tough to pinpoint problems...

Hmm... Let's see. What site are you on?

Ok, maybe I am missing the point here, I am not intentionally being stupid;

I am on mysettopbox.tv in the forum area, the main page at http://mysettopbox.tv/ is basically a gateway page leading to ISOs for KnoppMyth, some basic information and the forums. I can't find my answer there.

The only other main sites I can think of are for either Knoppix and MythTv, both of them go into making KnoppMyth, unless I am mistaken (which I might be as I know very little about any of this).

So, I apologise, but I am still confused -- if you give me a link and deem me a bit dumb I will happily go on my way and seek my answer.

How about reading what you see on the site? MythTV has nothing to getting your hardware working. Knoppix (remastered) is no longer the basis of KnoppMyth.

Since you need greater help.

get ftp://ftp.knoppmyth.net/R5/lwng.tar
Burn it onto a CD.
Insert CD into Epia.
tar xvf /mnt/cdrom/lwng.tar
su
dpkg -i *.deb
depmod -ae
modprobe prism_c

Firstly thank you for your help, I do appreciate it. I know you must get 100s of seemingly stupid questions on here but with due respect I did run several searches on this site and the wiki before I posted my question. I found nothing much using the searches for prism and nothing for prism2_c -- I also searched for linux-wlan and just found more confusion.

Once again thank you, I appreciate your time and effort.

I hope the above eliminates your confusion.
