some notes on my install,
hw: amd/100 dfi ak74-ec, 128mb, 40gig, nvidia 440mx, pvr-150
knoppmyth R5E50

downloaded iso via torrent, burned, booted, test media FAILED.
md5 the iso FAILED, delete iso and re-download another iso via ftp.
md5 passes on second iso, boot with lilo option 'acpi=force', test media passes.
new auto install was fine, removed cd, restarted.
good boot messages, X11 starts fine, prompted for root pass, begins running the network and remote setup scripts, launches mythtv-setup and seg faults.

the mythtv-setup gave a various ammount of information using -v everything however the errors proved to be eroneous.

i did just solve my problem, and it was simply that 128mb is not enough memory.
dropped in another 512mb and mythtv-setup ran fine, configuration was smooth and simple from here on out!

unfortunately the errors did not actually point to this very simple solution, that is what i want to let others know.

using ctrl-alt-f1 for a terminal and ctrl-alt-f5 (in my case) for the x head to switch between consoles is very helpful for x newbies.
most default installs will use ctrl-alt-f7 to get back to the x head.

all in all i am very pleased with knoppmyth, it truly is amazing, very good job!!
