He is, but the poor devil hosed himself by installing KDE with apt-get. Unfortunately now he's up against the fact that very few people do this kind of thing because it tends to break stuff, so there's very little lore on fixing it.

I suppose it might wake up and record, but I'd expect it will not turn off the power after the recording is done. (shutdown -h now requires a password entry to make the PC turn off).

It's pretty clumsy right now, booting up in KDE, it asks for a password both on boot and quitting. (At this point, I'm just trying to get the nvram wake up to work. Next I'll need to tackle how it will operate with KDE on top of Knoppmyth (R5D1))
