I would like to install ethtool and having run apt-get update followed by apt-get install ethtool, I get the following:

Code:
root@mythtv2:~# apt-get install ethtool
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  libc6 libc6-dev locales tzdata
Suggested packages:
  glibc-doc manpages-dev
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  base-config
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  ethtool tzdata
The following packages will be upgraded:
  libc6 libc6-dev locales
3 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 1 to remove and 647 not upgraded.
Need to get 11.8MB of archives.
After unpacking 2200kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]

This is a R5A30.2 installation which has worked very well for months. I am concerned that the removal of base-config above might kill it? Is is safe to continue?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Algenon.
