I've been using this PVR-150 with R5C7 for several months now and never had any trouble. When I tried upgrading to R5D1, I noticed that while I still got video, all my sound was just a high-pitched buzz. The sound-card worked fine for playing MP3's and such, it seems something was wrong in the tuner configuration. I eventually rolled back to R5C7.

I'm seeing the same problem again with R5E50. Has anyone else seen this and know how to fix it?

Also, with E50 I'm seeing vertical sync problems that have never appeared before. The video is nearly unwatchable, with the V-Sync dropping every 2 seconds or so.

Just curious, but I see that ivtv was upgraded from 0.4.4 to 0.7 between C7 & D1, and the ivtv site claims that Firmware is the #1 cause of these kinds of problems.

Does anyone have the Firmware files for v4.4 sitting around somewhere? Or know where I can get them? I'ld like to try installing them in my E50 build and see if that fixed my problems.

See the R5E50 upgrade hints posting for a pointer to a known ivtv issue and the recommended work around.

Well, I don't really know why, but it looks like it was a firmware problem... I tried every single v4l2-ctl option I could find but nothing worked. All my sound was just a high-pitched grinding sound.

So I visited the IVTV Wiki ( http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Firmware_versions ) and downloaded their referenced "Older PVR-150" file ( ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/wintv-pvr ... .23035.zip ). I took the HcwMakoA.ROM and overwrote the /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-cx25840.fw with it, and rebooted (After about 5 minutes of pull powerdown, cord out of the wall). And tada, now it works.

This isn't really a KnoppMyth or MythTV problem, looks like it's an IVTV problem. But for anyone else experiencing similar problems, there's what worked for me.
