Hi,

I installed R5E50 on an Asus Pundit, combined Frontend/Backend. The one thing I can not get to work is shutting down Linux through the power button on the front.

It used to work in the previously installed Fedora on the same HW, but I cannot get it to work on KnoppMyth.

How can I trigger an action from the Pundit's power button?

Thanks.

Holding the case button for 5 seconds is a forced shutdown, but that will take it down. Kind of hard on the mysql instance as that will basically crash the tables. Tehrefore that type of shutdown would not be advised.

The other option is to go to Knoppmyth in the main menu and choose "Power Off" That performs a normal shutdown after closing out all of the Linux files.

Hi,

I can't recall exactly how to do this but these pointers should get you started. It requires the ACPI daemon to be running, and you may need to load the "button" kernel module.

This is an example on how to change a currently working power button operation:

But you should be able to do a google search on "acpi" and "button" for more info.

Thanks for your pointer; I found out that I had to install the acpid.
KnoppMyth came with acpi clients, but
Code:
apt-get install acpid
added the necessary daemon and powerbtn.sh scripts.
