Ok, three days of miserable failed installation attempts and countless searching and I've got nothing to show for it. I'm even contemplating purchasing XP Pro and installing Media Portal. Before I give up completely, I'll plead desperately for some guidance!.
System Specs
Intel DG965WH Mobo
Pentium D 915 2.8G
Corsair Mem x2 = 2G
Seagate 400G SATA HD
Lite On DVD
Hauppage 500
Gigabyte NVidia NX732G256D Video Card
Chaintech 5.1 Sound card

Trying to install R5E50
I've been getting the same error as these fellows.

PCI BIOS Bug: MCFG area at F000000000 is not E820-reserved
PCI Not using MMconfig
Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry.
Dropping you to a (very limited) shell.
Press the reset button to quit.

I've tried every variation of
tv intelfix pci=nommconf ide=reverse
that I can think of, and each variation has been tried with the BIOS hard drive setting at RAID, IDE (Legacy and Native) as well as in AHCI.

I've even tried installing an old Samsung IDE HD and completely removing the SATA drive, no luck.
I've removed every add on card and tried just using MOBO+HD Still nothing.
I'm assuming there is a BIOS setting I'm missing.. but I really can't think of one. Is my processor not supported? I can't even run the TestCD command, it drops to the same error. (I've burned three copies of the ISO now) I'm at a loss, the machine is built fairly close to the Dragon specs, so I figure it would work. Anything jump out at you guys that I've missed?

Thanks
- Andrew

You haven't got your CD/DVD drive attached as your primary master IDE device have you (check the BIOS)? That causes all kinds of havoc...

I've had the jumper on the drive set at Master, Slave and Cable Select, though I can no longer remember which variations of the boot command I ran at that setting. Forgive the Newbie, but where in BIOS would I look for that? Should the jumper be set to slave? That'd take two seconds to switch. I'll give that a closer look after dinner.

OK, ok.. So I decided that since my build was similar to a Dragon, I'd run the Dragon2 command at the boot: after following there BIOS setup instructions. Well, its installed, sort of. Can't watch TV or DVD's yet, but at least this is a step in the right direction. I may have screwed up during the install questions. I'll read the pamphlet again and reinstall tomorrow.
Another question. I assume the "Dragon2" command runs a defined set of options, like "knoppmyth intelfix pci=yadayada" correct? Does anyone know what those options are? I think I may need to modify the command a bit to get everything to work.
Thanks again!

When I was installing KM on an old IBM system, I ended up with the same message that it couldn't find the CD image.

what I determined was that the OLD CD drive couldn't boot, so I swapped it out with a newer (52x cd-rw) drive. All was well from there.

If you have another (newer) CD drive, connect it to your system and see if that does the trick.

Beautiful, Thanks for that. I'll try that out and maybe a small variation when I get home and start messing with it again.
I'm getting excited.. it might actually work :)

*SOLVED*
For whatever its worth I ended up using the command:
Code:
tv intelfix all-generic-ide pci=nommconf

To get a proper installation without error messages. Hopefully that can help out someone in the future with a similiar problem.

Slightly OT, but I'm pretty stoked about this now. I've still got a few problems with Mythweather but if I can't figure it out I'll start another thread. I was able to record and playback tv last night. I'm loving how customizable this program is, once I start to get comfortable with linux I'll play with it even more!
Thanks for all the help.

Hi,

There have been some reports on the forum that the source of the weather has changed. Mine stopped working correctly a few days ago, but the radar images are still good.

I just setup Knoppmyth and was wondering why the weather wasn't working.
