Ok so I had a working 720p modline with the original drivers, but after I upgraded the drivers and placed the modeline in where is supposed to be, it will not work. I have a plasma tv that has a 1024x768 screen, but the problem is that with that resolution it has nasty vertical lines, almost like a pin striping with various sizes. It looks like cabbage. When the 720p was working there were zero lines and it looked great. Can anyone help me?

I use DVI-Hdmi cable. I have tried the vga and it will let me set 720p and this is actually not a resolution in the manual, but that input is dark on my tv for some reason. I liked the 720p on DVI before upgrading, but the flickering was kinda annoying. I would like to keep the newer drivers, but need this to work 720p. any ideas?

well I just re-installed the drivers that come with knoppmyth R5E50.
basically the opposite of the new drivers.
Code:
install-nvidia-debian.sh 8776

and I had the 8776 drivers installed, but had errors so I dowloaded the 8776 drivers of the site
Code:
wget http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-8776/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8776-pkg1.run

then I used the same command as the upgrade
Code:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8776-pkg1.run\ --kernel-source-path=/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.18-chw-13

I needed 720p because of those lines. they are horrible.

NOTE--please use at own risk I did this as apposed to reinstalling everything.
