I'm still a sort of a newbie with all this stuff.. my flatscreen monitor just bit the dust, and when I plug in my old 15 inch del monitor i get an OUT OF SCAN RANGE error on the screen. Anyone have any ideas what I need change in order to get this to work ??? thanks in advance ..d.

Vertical refresh and horizontal sync ranges most likely. As root:

Then find the Monitor Section and change the lines there for HorizSync and VertRefresh to match your monitor. There's usually a sticker on the monitor with it's specs or given the model number you can search fro a PDF manual with that information.
