I installed R5F1 a month or so ago and it's been working fine but I've been stuck with using the keyboard as I lost the little IR receiver for my TV tuner (oops!). However I recently won a lovely, shiny new HP laptop which came with Vista Home Ultimate (which is terrible by way) and a remote. As I'm not likely to use the remote on it I thought I'd use it, along with the USB IR receiver, on my Myth box. Only trouble is, I can't get lirc to recognise it.

The receiver shows up as a Philips device according to lsusb



and the vendor id confirms it -



Yes, the really obvious things (at least to a hopeless Linux newbie like me) have been done (batteries, configuring with every single listed remote etc.) and a few other things that I tried out having read various other posts - editing '/etc/init.d/lirc, testing with irw (which seems to kill lirc).

Is it just that this remote (or more likely the receiver) isn't supported, or is there something else I'm missing?

As an intitial WAG, I think this should be an MCE remote.
