Post subject: | HP/Philips USB remote not working |
I installed R5F1 a month or so ago and it's been working fine but I've been stuck with using the keyboard as I lost the little IR receiver for my TV tuner (oops!). However I recently won a lovely, shiny new HP laptop which came with Vista Home Ultimate (which is terrible by way) and a remote. As I'm not likely to use the remote on it I thought I'd use it, along with the USB IR receiver, on my Myth box. Only trouble is, I can't get lirc to recognise it. The receiver shows up as a Philips device according to lsusb Code: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0471:060c Philips and the vendor id confirms it - Code: T: Bus=02 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 3 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=0471 ProdID=060c Rev= 1.01 S: Manufacturer= S: Product=BB+ Dongle(e.d) S: SerialNumber=ECOO C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=100mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=(none) E: Ad=01(O) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 16 Ivl=1ms E: Ad=82(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 16 Ivl=1ms Yes, the really obvious things (at least to a hopeless Linux newbie like me) have been done (batteries, configuring with every single listed remote etc.) and a few other things that I tried out having read various other posts - editing '/etc/init.d/lirc, testing with irw (which seems to kill lirc). Is it just that this remote (or more likely the receiver) isn't supported, or is there something else I'm missing? |

As an intitial WAG, I think this should be an MCE remote. Bruce S. |
