I have been at this all night and still cannot get TV out to work with my radeon 9800 non pro. I have tried R5D1 when R5F1 didn't work. I have followed every step on http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... +Video+Out. I follow the instructions perfectly, as far as I can tell.

Maybe I am not getting to the root properly. Once I the comp boots into mythTV, I just press Ctrl+alt+F1 to get into the console. I type root for user, then my password. Then I type all the commands in the Wiki link above. Everything seems to go well. Then I shut down with the /sbin/shutdown -h now command.

When I restart, I have to go through the MythTV setup all over - the DHCP and a few other config screens - like my previous settings weren't saved. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong.

My computer is a p4 2.4, abit is7, 512 mb ram, 80 WD hard drive. I don't yet have a tuner card, I just want to make sure everything else works and I can hook it up to my TV before I buy one. I could really use some help. Thanks in advance.

Did you do the full KM setup before doing the ATI setup and if you reboot before doing the ATI setup, does it do this?

Yes, I went through the setup screens that pop up on initial boot - they had something to do with the network address, and other things I think. I never did any of the capture card setup because I don't have one yet.

I am thinking about purchasing an nvidia card. Will a geforce fx 5200 128 mb be enough for the knoppmyth box? That's the cheapest geforce agp card I can find on newegg.

Actually I have a 32Mb Elsa Erazor III Pro in testing (Nvidia Riva TNT2 chip) and it seems to be more than sufficient and has TV out.

Another Riva TNTN based 32 MB card is already in use and it is as fast as my 128MB Ati Radeon 8500 on one of my frontends...

I also have been frustrated with this problem after upgrading to R5F1 with a ATI Radeon 9600. TV Out is not working... :(

It worked before with R5D1 upgraded to 0.20 (fixes).

Ordered a FX5200 for $35 from zipzoomfly and we'll see how that goes...

Installed the video card, updated the drivers and all is well!
