Ok so apparently this is a common issue, however I can't get any of the fixes to work. I tried changing "nv" to nvidia in the xorg.conf file, but it was already set to nvidia. I tried adding it to the /etc/modules( or where ever you tell it what modules to modprobe on startup) file where it was actually missing but that had no effect, I could not find the linux-restricted-modules directory. I also tried the user module assistant instructions on this page: http://home.comcast.net/~andrex/Debian-nVidia/installation.html

Nothing worked. I am really confused now and at the point of never rebooting or giving up entirely. Any assistance would be appreciated.

By the way I have little to no clue what I am doing so be descriptive.
Thanks.

Edit: I reloaded and changed the nvidia back to nv and now it works fine but I believe the graphics aren't so great.
