Hi Guys

I was looking at using a combination of the above for a few plugin scripts I am working on, which I intend to give back to you all once I have them running nicely.

I have hit a bit of a problem, I wanted to use feh to display a background image, maybe with another picture mounted on top, osd_cat to display some text over the top, and aplay to play a noise.

The only trouble is that they all have a delay built in, so feh would display until I hit escape, osd_cat has a 5 second delay, and aplay also locks the machine while it plays the noise.

Would anyone be able to offer a solution to this problem, or do I have to get into creating xml files ????

Cheers

Let me preface this with, whilst I can write a script here or there, this is just a thought.

Can you background the process, that is run the process in the background thus avoiding the delay of having to wait for one process to finish before the next can start. From memory you need to you the ampersand ( & )

Girkers

Thanks a lot for that. I have used the ampersand (&) before, but didn't think it would work in the situations I am using it now, BUT IT DOES !!!!

Girkers, you are a star. Will let all the forum users know what I have been up to when I have all my stuff polished and working on R5F27, which I should be installing at some point tonight......

Bye for now !!!!
